Grace “Shimee” is a native New Yorker who began her musical studies at the age of 6. She cultivated training within a variety of genres and styles, including classical, hip-hop, R&B, gospel and pop. Shimee was accepted into The Juilliard School’s Pre-College program and served as the principal cellist in the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony Orchestra, National Association for Music Education All-County, State, Eastern Orchestras, in addition to the Emory University Symphony Orchestra.
Previous performing repertoire for Shimee includes the Emory University Concerto competition, where she performed the Dvorak Cello Concerto in front of a sold out audience at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. She was invited to play alongside Kanye West at State Farm Arena for his Late Registration tour and with singer/actress, Janelle Monáe and her Wondaland artists.
Shimee recorded on Janelle Monáe's twice Grammy-nominated album, The ArchAndroid (2010), in addition to The Electric Lady (2013) and Dirty Computer (2018). She performed with Ms. Monáe, Bruno Mars and B.o.B. at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards and later joined the Hooligans in Wondaland tour. She was also seen opening with Ms. Monáe during Katy Perry’s California Dreams Tour. In 2020, Shimee recorded for the feature film, Antebellum.
Outside of her musical endeavors, Shimee enjoys working as VP of Strategy at Spark Foundry.
